What do I do if I have entered my eID PIN incorrectly?
If you have entered the eID PIN incorrectly twice, you must enter your card access number (CAN) to authorise a third attempt. To do this, you must do the following:
- Download the "AusweisApp" from the app store and start the app.
- Click on "Check device and ID card" and follow the instructions.
Note: The "CAN number" is located on the front of the identity card next to the date of validity and consists of six digits.
After successfully entering the CAN number, a third attempt will be authorised. You can now enter your eID PIN again in the Notary App.
If an incorrect PIN is entered again on this third attempt, the online function of the identity card will be blocked (see the following question).
