Which identity documents can I use to read out the eID data?
For identification with the online ID function (eID), you can use a German identity card, an electronic residence permit or an eID card for citizens of the EU and the EEA to read out your eID electronically using the free Notary App. You can find out more about the eID card for citizens of the EU and the EEA here.
To be able to use the online ID function, you need your personal eID PIN. When your identity card was issued, you were sent a PIN letter containing, among other things, your transport PIN.

Your photograph will also be read out at the notary appointment so that the notary can identify you with legal certainty. You can find out more about this here.
